Food for Thought (1992)
Exhibition catalog for the 1992 exhibition, Food for Thought, at Berkeley Art Center.
FROM THE PERFECT beauty of ripe peaches to the all-American banality of cherry pie, artists throughout history have found food to be a worthy subject. It is no surprise, considering the paramount role food plays in our lives, from life sustainer and palate pleaser to emotional comforter and aphrodisiac. Straddling all economic, cultural and social barriers, food is simultaneously one of the most personal and most universal forms of expression shared by all beings.
